Lowri Davies

Dr Lowri Davies graduated from Bristol Veterinary School in 1992 and developed her interest in sports medicine and rehabilitation whilst working in specialist equine practice. In 2004 she established the SMART Referral Centre – the first specialised sports medicine and rehabilitation clinic for small animals in the UK. The clinics have a large, Europe wide client base and Lowri regularly lectures around the world. She became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2016 and is a past president of the British Veterinary Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine association. Lowri is also a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain, The Royal Society of Medicine and the British Veterinary Orthopaedic Association.  Lowri has contributed to a number of texts on pain management and rehabilitation as well as authoring “Care of the Canine Athlete”.

When not at work, Lowri enjoys travelling - preferably somewhere she can climb a mountain, ski down a mountain or ride across several mountains.

Meleri Tweed

Meleri graduated from Cambridge Veterinary School in 2003 and has extensive experience in first opinion small animal practice. Her interest in sports medicine and rehabilitation developed over many years of attending the SMART clinic with her own dogs.

When not at work Meleri spends her time with her young family running their small holding; caring for a range of animals, from naughty pygmy goats and pampered sheep to the rescue kelpie who tries his best to keep them all in line! She loves bee keeping and, more recently, is learning how to make the best use of her new poly tunnel. She is also the co-ordinator and host for the Swansea rehoming site for the British Hen Welfare Trust.

Katie Jones

Katie graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014 and prior to her move to Cardiff, Wales worked in a busy first opinion practice with a focus in internal medicine and pain management. She has particular interest in helping geriatric and osteoarthritic patients stay active and comfortable as well as a passion for neuropathic cases.
Katie has a love for travel, writing, photography, cooking, music, One Piece and going on road trip adventures with her Border Terrier, Yusuke.

Yasmin Channon

Yasmin graduated from the University of Bristol in 2018 and started in mixed practice before transitioning to small animal first opinion work only. She already had an interest in lameness and pain management which developed further after starting agility with her dog Finn and attending the SMART clinic as a client. When not out with her dogs, Yasmin can be found horse riding or out for a run.

Sioned Donovan

Sioned is a Welsh-speaking veterinary surgeon who graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2022. After qualifying, she returned home to South Wales to work in small animal practice. Early in her career, Sioned developed a strong interest in pain management and rehabilitation, an interest that deepened after adopting a dog who required ongoing hindlimb rehabilitation.

Prior to joining SMART Vet Clinic, Sioned incorporated acupuncture into general practice, managing a variety of cases, including treating her own dogs. She is passionate about improving patient comfort, mobility, and quality of life through an evidence-based approach.

Outside of work, Sioned enjoys caring for her marine fish, spending time with her dogs and friends, and unwinding at the golf driving range.

Amanda Morgan

Amanda joined the SMART Clinic in May 2013. She qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 2009 and went on to complete postgraduate studies in Veterinary Physiotherapy, specialising in equine and canine therapy. Amanda is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy.

Outside work, Amanda enjoys horse riding, walking her dog Cass and looking after her Welsh Cob Monty.

Mary Shaw

Mary joined the SMART Clinic team in Autumn 2019 after completing her degree in Animal Therapy & Rehabilitation. Mary has a keen interest in Sports rehabilitation and has trained and competed in dog agility for over 30 years, previously representing the UK internationally and competing nationally at Championship level. Mary has a secret love for scruffy dogs, and is currently “owned” by a cheeky Beardie cross along with a Welsh sheepdog and two border collies. Together they like spending time out in the Welsh countryside and partaking in many dog activities such as scent training and agility training.

Rosie Dymond

Rosie joined the SMART team in the Summer of 2021 after completing her BSc Veterinary Physiotherapy degree at Harper Adams University, including placements at the SMART Clinic, Animal Health Trust, Physio-Vet and Ashbrook Equine Hospital. Her dissertation investigated the impact of agility hurdle jump height on the landing forces experienced by Large and Intermediate agility dogs.

Rosie grew up at a Boarding Kennels and Cattery along with volunteering for the (then) Retired Greyhound Trust and took over the Leicestershire branch of the Greyhound Trust in 2017 when it was faced with closure.

Rosie has always had working gundogs (Golden Retrievers, Cocker and Springer Spaniels), competing with them at Working Tests, along with Showing and Obedience. Rosie began Agility training in 2017 with her Springer Spaniel Lewie, but has never quite made it to a show! Something she hopes to correct soon.

In her spare time Rosie has played cricket for over 20 years and hopes to find a new team to play for in Wales.

Becky Megson

Anna Williams

Anna completed her placement year in industry at the SMART Clinic in 2023 before re-joining the team in 2025 as a physiotherapist. Her dissertation explored the understanding and management of osteoarthritis in felines and she hopes to improve the current rehabilitative treatment available to cats.

Having grown up on her family’s farm in South Wales, Anna has always had a love for animals and particularly enjoys helping out with lambing in the spring time. Outside of the clinic, Anna enjoys caring for her two rescue tabbies and staying active through playing sports such as cricket and ice skating.

Sian Edwards

Stacey Munt

Stacey started working at the SMART Clinic in March 2013. Originally from New York, she worked as a zookeeper before moving to Wales. Stacey has a keen interest in feline behaviour and has completed the ISFM Advanced Feline Behaviour for Cat Professionals course, and is working on the Advanced Diploma in Applied Animal Behaviour (Feline).
In her spare time Stacey enjoys Wado-Ryu Karate, and spending time with her young son Rhun, Birman cat Sanau, and rough collie Triffyn.

Laura Rees

Laura moved to SMART in 2018, originally as a receptionist and was made a member of the Veterinary Assistant team in 2020. Whilst here Laura has qualified as a Cat Friendly Vet Professional and works closely with the cat clients here at SMART. She also has a keen interest in nutrition and has recently completed a Diploma in Canine Nutrition.

In her spare time, Laura loves to go to yoga and dance classes, and likes to take care of her many house plants!

Farrah Katz

Farrah started here as an animal care assistant in February 2022. She studied Nature Conservation in South Africa then worked there with big cats for a few years before moving to Dubai for 2 years to work on a resort.
She moved to the UK in 2017 where she worked in research before coming to the SMART Clinic.

Naomi Carroll

Naomi started working at Smart Clinic in 2023, having previously worked in the animal rescue sector. She has a BSc in Animal Behaviour and recently completed a Canine Anatomy diploma. Naomi has a keen interest in the outdoors and enjoys foraging, van camping, and going on walks with her rescued lurcher Nettle!

Katelyn Webb

Katelyn has a degree in Animal Health and Welfare and experience across veterinary practices and kennels. After a career break to raise her two boys, she is delighted to return to animal care and is dedicated to supporting pets and their owners with kindness and professionalism.

Sian Baker

Sian qualified from the University of Bristol in 2006 with a 2:1 degree in Veterinary Nursing and Practice Administration. She has been working at the Smart Clinic since 2011, and is now the Practice Manager. Her main interest is still the nutritional management of the cases seen at the Clinic but with the demands of a growing team to manage, she is currently training other staff members to take the reigns with this. Outside of work she has rediscovered a love for running and keeping fit and has completed 4 half marathons in the last 2 years.

Laura Parker

Laura joined the team in June 2016. She has a background in engineering, and worked in Science Communication and digital media in the charity sector for 12 years. She then decided to move back to Wales and work with animals. She volunteered for animal welfare charities for many years, and enjoys photography.
