Lowri Davies BVSc Dip American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation MRCVS

Recently, Lowri joined  an elite group of  European Veterinary Surgeons formally recognised as specialists in the field of sports medicine and veterinary rehabilitation. In January 2016 she was successful in her American Board exams and is now a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. Access to sit the examination is restricted to individuals that have either undergone a further three years of specialist training on top of their veterinary degree or manage to demonstrate excellence in the subject through their clinical proficiency and teaching work both at home and internationally. These exams are challenging with individuals being tested on their advanced knowledge in the field of rehabilitation, regenerative medicine, motion kinematics, surgery, exercise physiology, nutrition, pain management, diagnostic imaging and tissue healing.

The American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation’s mission statement is “to advance the art and science of veterinary medicine by promoting expertise in the structural, physiological, medical and surgical needs of athletic animals and the restoration of normal form and function after injury or illness” and encompasses what we strive to achieve here at the SMART Clinic every day.
